How to convert token dust to SOL on Solana
Short answer: Dust is a small token balance worth too little to bother selling manually. SolRent swaps each dust balance to SOL through Jupiter with slippage protection, then closes the now-empty account to free its rent.
Steps
- Scan your wallet. Balances between $0.02 and $5 with a real market are listed as dust.
- Check the quote. Each swap shows the minimum SOL you’ll receive and its price impact.
- Approve. Swap and account close happen in a single transaction.
How SolRent decides what is dust
A token counts as dust when it has a live market and is worth between $0.02 and $5. Anything worth more is treated as a real position and left alone. Anything with no market is offered as a dead token instead.
Protection
Swaps use Jupiter routing with a 3% maximum slippage and refuse routes with more than 5% price impact. Our fee is calculated from the guaranteed minimum output, never from the optimistic quote.
Why dust is worth cleaning up
Each dust balance sits in a token account that also holds a rent deposit. Swapping the dust and closing the account recovers two things: the dust's market value in SOL, and about 0.002 SOL of rent from a legacy account. For tokens worth a few cents, the rent can be worth more than the tokens.
How SolRent decides what counts as dust
- Worth between $0.02 and $5, using live market prices.
- Has a real market: a Jupiter route to SOL exists.
- Worth more than $5: treated as a real position and left alone.
- No market at all: offered as a dead token instead.
What protects you on each swap
- Swaps are routed through Jupiter with a maximum slippage of 3%.
- Routes with a price impact above 5% are refused, so thin markets don't eat the value.
- The fee is calculated from the guaranteed minimum output of the swap, never from the optimistic quote.
- Each transaction is simulated before your wallet asks you to approve it.
A worked example
A wallet holds 40 dust balances worth $0.50 each, $20 in total, all in legacy accounts. Swapping them returns about $20 of SOL minus slippage, and closing the 40 emptied accounts returns 40 × 0.00204 ≈ 0.082 SOL of rent. The SolRent fee (12%, or 5% with Pro) is taken from the total recovered, and the scan shows the net figure before you sign.
When to keep a small balance
Skip dust you expect to use: tokens needed for an upcoming airdrop claim, governance tokens you vote with, or a token you plan to buy more of soon. You can untick any item before approving.
